In Chrome for Windows, ControlD free DNS works as usual.

But in chrome for android, although it was working perfectly fine, lately it is not.

Websites show ads, and ControlD status check website shows it is off, although rechecking Chrome settings shows it is properly typed as it was in the first time!

Have you check which handles dns when the problem occured ?
Did you set both controld in android settings and chrome ?
Have you rebooted your android device ?
have you uninstalled / reinstalled chrome for checking ?

Which Control D Free resolver are you usinmg?
It's best to set it on your router and not on every device individually.

Yes, I have checked; properly typed; actually it was not modified since it was working.
Did you set both controld in android settings and chrome ?
No I set it in Chrome only, and it was working fine; android settings were not touched.
Have you rebooted your android device ?
Good one; no; I will try this trick.
have you uninstalled / reinstalled chrome for checking ?
No, it is the preinstalled one; just updating regularly.

If you don't see Control D on the test, then something is pushing its own DNS over it. If you see Control D along some other DNS servers, then you have DNS leak.

See what test says and just then you can find the culprit.

The first scenario

showing "not using" ControlD for mobile, but "using" ControlD for desktop

Android can be weird, it has issues with VPNs. Wouldn't surprise me if Google over rides adblocking and DNS settings.
Never had any issues with using VPN on Android or DNS. In fact, I had less trouble on Android than on Windows.

Probably has something to do with the version of Android you have installed on your device.
