Hey guys have been having trouble with my computers.. Symptoms listed above.. Windows Defender and Avast running at the same time occasionally is a pain. :(

EDIT: Both are running Avast Free and were updated at the same time. Only laptop 1 (my main laptop) has WD running alongside Avast..

Search the threads for the GPedit to turn off Defender, its here, Umbra, myself and I think even you posted in the thread a while back.
When Defender does that, and it does it often, Group policy is the best option to make it behave.
I would link you to the thread but I cant find it, maybe @Umbra can.

Thanks for the suggestion! Though I still want WD to periodically scan my computer. :)

@J Gamez065: Overall yes you can disable most of them considering it's more only on the configuration settings and does not affect the system instability.

The Persistence Module in Windows 8.1 is actually a piece of software to accompany certain models of Intel video cards. The persistence module is loaded during Windows startup, but is not essential for the operation of Windows or the video card.

HP On screen display controls the brightness and volume so likely you can safely disable it since you can maneuver through FN keys.

Meanwhile hkcmd Module by Intel controls the Keyboard hotkeys including FN so likely you need to retain it.

HP QuickWeb Utilities is more on providing access to Skype, Facebook and others which it does not contain any critical configurations.
