Does Windows 11 delivery optimization remain active in the background or is it disabled when it is turned off from the settings?

I have the Windows 11 delivery optimization option turned off in the settings, but today I noticed that it writes 2.27 GB to my disk. Does it still run whether this option is turned on or off?

Yes, the Delivery Optimization service continues to run in the background even if you toggle it "off" in your settings.

This service also downloads windows and store app updates, so I would not worry about it. I had it stopped and it started to download updates upon checking.
