Emsisoft caused error 0xc0000005

After I won the emsisoft AM giveaway, I thought I'd give it a try and see if it should replace zemana. Immediately after that I got error 0xc0000005 when opening almost any app or file. It also prevented me from uninstalling anything. I had to boot into safe mode and uninstall emsisoft, and the problem is fixed. Anyone know why emsisoft caused this error?
