This is my point. The others detect it, and report accordingly, whereas in regards to Eset, the suggestion being made is that because Eset does NOT respond, therefore it is not malicious.

Therefore, the question is which is better: to have some type of alert, or nothing and make an informed decision to ignore?

I guess this all boils down to personal preference if you trust your software and its reputation.

By the way, it is a mistake to focus on ransomware, because ransomware is very much on the decline these days. You could still get ransomed by downloading cracks, but your AV will be of no avail in such a case -- because you will undoubtedly disable your AV in order to run the crack. :)
Ransomware is rarely emailed to people these days, and email is the dangerous attack vector, because it delivers brand new samples that might be FUD.

I guess this all boils down to personal preference if you trust your software and its reputation.

The sim does not behave as malware so no detection is normal. Adding a signature to detect the sim as a PUP is really up to each vendor.
