And, of course, it freaking does not work with Vivaldi! Why ESET, why!
Was this enabled by default after updating or you had to enable manually? It looks like it's finally here! 19.1.12

New feature: blocking screen recording and sharing.

Officially supported browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Brave. Almost no other AV supports anything outside of the big 3, Chrome, Firefox and Edge. So ESET actually supports one extra browser. And, of course, it freaking does not work with Vivaldi! Why ESET, why!![]()
In the forum, I have seen some users reporting ESET's size is increasing or writing a lot of data. Those users had this "Log all blocked operations option enabled." So maybe that's why they decided to add a warning. After the update & restart, I got a warning to disable HIPS logging blocking mode:

I never had that before.
I think it works after manually requesting the update. However, it seems the automatic rollout of the update is already underway. Was this enabled by default after updating or you had to enable manually?

Thanks for the info. Was this enabled by default after updating or you had to enable manually?

As I recall, if you want to turn off the "Enable Safe Banking & Browsing" option, you have to restart the browser! If this feature was running and I turned it off while the browser was open, it still worked until I closed the browser completely. The online installer also downloads the new version.
Regarding the new "Browser Screen Protection", I realized that it can be paused anytime from the ESET UI without needing to close the browser.

In fact, all the "Secured browser" features can be disabled anytime without closing the browser. Till now, I thought I needed to close the browser before enabling/disabling any of those.

Edit: I mean the options can be enabled/disabled anytime but I thought I need to close the browser for the settings changes to take effect but that's not needed.
I’d be curious to know exactly what this massive development is meant to prevent and what kind of attack it was designed to counter. Can anyone explain exactly what the new "Browser screen protection" feature is designed to prevent? What kind of potential attack scenario?
I meant not the whole thing but the individual options for example, "Keyboard protection". On some rare occasions, I need to use a keyboard app to write in our local language. With this feature turned on, anything typed via the app is randomly scrambled. So in that case, I have to disable the Keyboard protection feature. If I disable it, I don't need to restart my browser, I can simply disable it and use my keyboard app normally. As I recall, if you want to turn off the "Enable Safe Banking & Browsing" option, you have to restart the browser! If this feature was running and I turned it off while the browser was open, it still worked until I closed the browser completely.
I think infostealer samples may take screenshots to collect extra information on your username, password, bank account info, crypto wallet id, etc. It's like an extension of keyloggers. Can anyone explain exactly what the new "Browser screen protection" feature is designed to prevent? I hate their overpricing and business practices because of the drastic differences in protection between their products. What you’re describing is basic ransomware protection in other products. And I don’t like those features either. They cause more problems than they’re worthKeyboard protection causes issues to this day with random scrambled input. Window's start menu is one example and I've been able to reproduce since its creation to this day, but it's random: open the start menu with the Win key and quickly start typing something to search and there's like a 50% chance of it scrambling input. Playnite is another application I frequently saw that happen. The emoji keyboard is also non-functional with this featured enabled and ESET claims there is no solution: Browser keyboard protection interferes with Windows 11 emoji picker
This whole browser protection approach by Eset has been wrong in my opinion since the start. It causes more problems than it solves. Look at the emoji situation for one. ESET claims it's because Windows doesn't offer something they need to work around it, but come on, ESET should be the one working around Windows, not the other way around. That lock they created for browser profiles also launched with issues that broke existing configurations and you still need to manually allow programs access to browser profiles through a convoluted procedure of checking the logs. There's not even a notification. I could go on and on about all the problems of Secure Browser that have not been addressed to this day.
What is the purpose of this screen protection? It will, once again, cause workflow disruptions for users unaware of it. And what does it protect users from? You have to be already compromised for it to be useful so how does that align with ESET's prevention-first philosophy? My take is that all these band-aid solutions exist in an attempt to make up for their lack of behavioral protection.
I've been critical of ESET on many of my posts because of things like this. They release features that don't make much sense and actually cause issues, very often on release, as if no testing took place. It's the main reason I stopped using their products over an year ago. I trust the company as a whole, but their decisions regarding their products don't make sense. They still haven't provided a justification for locking ransomware remediation behind their Ultimate package, while their competitors provide it as a standard feature.
All of these are valid points from you. I used ESET with this setting disabled but enabled it recently. I already found an issue today. Any file in my portable Firefox's profile folder cannot be opened or modified. So I cannot update my portable Firefox with the updating script.Keyboard protection causes issues to this day with random scrambled input. Well, I'm just wondering if this is such a significant threat that it warrants the developers' resources and effort.I think infostealer samples may take screenshots to collect extra information on your username, password, bank account info, crypto wallet id, etc. It's like an extension of keyloggers.
I think RAT samples may also screenshot victim's PC at certain intervals.
I must have uninstalled ESET products more than hundred times and never encountered a problem that you are describing. Although it leaves some data, their uninstaller works without a problem for me.Eset Secuirty is a good Antivirus Software. However, it is difficult to uninstall. You need the ESET uninstaller. Windows’ own uninstaller usually doesn’t work. In Windows, you have to boot into safe mode to uninstall the programm. That's very complicated.
Winaero Tweaker has a context mode for safe mode w/network and exit, The Eset uninstall tool can be found here ESETUninstaller.exe , I agree Brownie Eset had been a uninstall problem for me, before using the above.Eset Secuirty is a good Antivirus Software.
