I don’t like any product that’s entirely based on another product. This includes F-Secure, TotalAV, TotalDefence. The lack of proprietary technology can’t really fire up my interest.

Agree on this one. If you can't make your own scan engine,then most likely you don't have your own labs,R&D and SOC etc. You just rely on 3rd party with their Core SDK and rebrand it like your own with a few tweaks.

Using third-party engines and feeds is one, but when not even own reputation/cloud, behavioural blocking, cloud detonation and so on have been developed, or even worse, developed to be removed later…. That’s something else.

For those who don’t know, F-Secure removed DeepGuard and now solely relies on Avira engines (the behavioural blocking called Sentry was inherited from BullGuard).
If I want Avira and BullGuard engines, I might as well install Avira, at least there is granular configuration to them, which F-Secure also hides.

So that’s for that.
