Hello and welcome to the F-Secure test!
F-Secure is a Finnish antivirus editor, quite popular at the moment.
Headed by Mikko Hypponen, F-Secure used to be based on Bitdefender before taking over from Avira.
In this version, not much has changed, except for one point that I will come back to in the protection section.

The interface of F-Secure is still simplistic and suitable for computer novices. I left the default settings, but it's useless since F-Secure doesn't require any configuration.

As far as protection is concerned, I was expecting only a DeepGuard + Avira duo... I got it wrong.
And the novelty is there! F-Secure has beefed up its own engine! (Generic detection!), something I was hoping for. The protection provided by F-Secure is excellent with its 2 engines and DeepGuard.
Only, everything is not perfect. Even if DeepGuard blocked well the VBS, Java and JavaScript attacks, some startup entries were created. This is not very important, but it can open a door to the installation of malware...
This is a weakness I have to mention, even though DeepGuard can protect you against its attacks.
The system is not damaged, but needs some cleaning. F-Secure is still recommendable because it protected us from several traps that I set for it, even the most violent ones!

RAM Usage : Light
Phishing URL test : 4/5 (1 missed)
Malware URL test : 10/10 (All blocked)
Fake crack : 1/1 (detected)
Malware Pack : Remaining 25 files out of 360. F-Secure eliminates threats and blocks scripts.
Only some malware manages to create startup entries before DeepGuard blocks them. This is not annoying, but will require cleaning.
Resistance to script attacks: Yes

Result :
F-Secure : 0
NPE : 6 (JS traces and Java backdoor attack)
KVRT : 4 (JS traces and Java backdoor attack)

Recommand : Yes
System Clean : Not clean ! Even if the PC is still alive, a cleaning is necessary

To support my words, here is a test I did today with some malware of the day...
Avira misses several, but F-Secure Cloud... (Avira sees some with its engine and Heur/Apc ) :D
