Serious Discussion Free Anti-Virus?

I never thought about choice of antivirus as a fashion statement :)
Yes, that is pretty much the main reason I used Panda, because of a cute panda's systray icon, after they removed it, I switched to Kaspersky's green bear icon. Bears icons matter! 🐼🐻

and when you do that, the UI opens every time you restart so I stopped blocking it via the firewall, a better solution is to go to Settings > Notifications, then is it to Limited
Blocking "avastui" through the firewall was problem-free for me. Anyway, if the new options accomplish the same thing, it's best to use them.

Enjoy the fact they are free and try them all. See what works better for you. In terms of protection they are quite similar. Avast/AVG has been improving although it does have frequent false positive on innocent pages, Bitdefender has its quirks as well. All security software do.

Check for impact on day to day work, see if they don''t interrupt access to wireless devices, if none of the pages you eventually need to access for work load with no problems, etc.

Use the vendor uninstaller r make a system image clean then restore if you decide you didn't like a product.

There's a reason why it's so light, it provides terrible protection. It's not worth using, even for free, as there are much better free alternatives which have already been discussed in this thread.
GOT IT... But he said............ "If you want a very light AV and are willing to have just browser protection"......... Then I said......... Panda is also light.

I think someone said in another thread that you need MITM for web protection to deal with heuristics or something like that.
That is ture; when disabled K scan of encrypted connections without installing its extension, safe browsing was almost non-existent.
