@Malware1 No disrespect intended buddy
The Real AV list:
Avast
Dr.Web
ESET
Kaspersky
Microsoft
Symantec
This is the biggest BS ever.
So the poster on the other forum claims:
Trentmicro, Sophos, F-Secure, Grisoft, Mcafee, Bitdefender, Avira, FRISK just to name a older few household names that these are no real AV developers and Vendors? You got to be kidding me right?
Just because some of them target viruses and some of them target spyware? I am not sure which brainless genius wrote that topic but may i remind you about the fact that Symantec, Sophos, Kaspersky, Mcafee, Trentmicro, F-Secure, Frisk, Grisoft all started as anti virus only software? While firewall and anti spyware/malware and such where later additions? I agree that some brands do remove viruses better then malware/spyware but that list is just plain birdflu madness by a person who has ZERO brain.
Also the next comment in that forum:
Their technology level:
ability to recognize, emulate, unpack, and remove something more serious than joking viruses from MSDOS or 7 years old lolkits
Their infrastructure:
ability to quickly process large amounts of data worldwide
Their R&D:
ability to track current malware trends and develop quick response for it, and not write about something months old like for example chronical slowpokes from F-Secure with their comedy section Sirefef/TDSS discoveries
Hmm so the names i mentioned do not have their own infrastructure? lmao amazing... what a bull. I Do hope that one of the AV developers here in the forum does see this info.
I am sure someone will go ballistic then lmao... omg facepalm fail.
All listed AV above not perfect but they are far away as the stars in the sky from anything else installed on VT.
No disrespect to VT but while its a great site they really need to get rid of the Asian and Onedayfly scanners from obscure brands and they need to kick brands that use licensed last year generation engines.
The current antimalware companies trend is to provide sophisticated fake service giving a false sense of security (through fake products and delirium publications) and since last time they started using their users database as a part of mass media campaigns. There is no big difference between malware and antimalware in general. They all - potentially unwanted applications.
Well this comment actually does make some sense as this is sadly true for some vendors.
Alright granted i was a bit harsh in this comment (forgive me please
But generally the guy is sprouting BS on that forum, and again no disrespect intended.
But there are so many people who did hear the bells ring without knowing where the clock itself is that this has to stop.
Everyday people are being misinformed and we all here on MT have to deal with that.
If we all want to educate and help people then at least lets try to make a effort by posting true topic's and info.
Because a topic like this with such a comment will trow people of guard.
I mean i was eating my soup and i nearly chocked in it when i did read it lol.
Cheers
