Wow that's quite a machine you have there. What type of raid card you running and what type of raid set are you running.

Upgrade to BD 2013. I have just installed it and its a marked improvement over the 2012 edition. Also BD just has a sandboxed browser. So use sandboxie or BZP. And also its not a problem to keep windows firewall on. I have not observed any conflicts so far.
