Nice to meet you! I’m what you might call an “old-timer engineer.” I’ve spent decades in tech, but when it comes to cybersecurity I’m basically starting from zero. Better late than never, right?

I’ll probably ask some very basic (maybe even silly) questions along the way, so please bear with me. Any help or advice would be hugely appreciated. Think of me as the class newbie who just happens to have gray hair!

Thank you.

Grey hair doesn't matter; I will soon have grey hair too ! What matters is that you keep that brain active so you don't go senile. Welcome to MT

If you are looking for knowledge gaps, you should start with an all encompassing guide to cybersecurity. Take a look at CIS Top 18 ! Easy to read, but they are terse, every sentence says something important. Check mark every safeguard and practice it like religion and you are on your way to becoming professional. Cybersecurity requires breadth and has lots of areas to do deep dives. Here at MT there is a lot of in depth discussions on point 10.

Thanks! Maybe one day we’ll form the ‘Silver Malware Busters.’ Until then, I’ll do my best to survive. :D
Also thanks for sharing the CIS Top 18! I’ll take a look and start checking off the safeguards step by step.
