Every few years, Microsoft is making it more difficult to create a local account during setup of the Windows operating system.

The company announced in February 2022 that new setups and first runs of Pro versions of Windows 11 would require a Microsoft account. Previously, one Home editions of Windows 11 required that customers signed-in to or created a Microsoft account on first run of the system.

It did not take long for workarounds to become available, but many users may be unaware of these bypass options. It is important to realize that both account type offers certain benefits.

I do not mind MS account, but MS does not consider all options, like no driver for lan nor wifi or disabled DHCP. I was "lucky", wifi driver worked, but try to type 63 characters long password.
Ability to use USB for a driver or to open notepad to copy/paste wifi/user's password would be really useful. Typical MS, making haste decisions without thinking it through.

The Microsoft Out of Box Experience is a deliberate move on Microsoft's part to force people to create a Microsoft Account. It is an under-handed tactic.

People that clean install their PC that do not know the wifi driver might get wiped in the process, cannot connect to the internet to create a Microsoft account, are a left there frustrated and not knowing what to do.

Indeed, and SAC requires "Send optional diagnostics" or users are out of luck.

The higher amount of telemetry is needed so that they can train their security graph better (e.g. device specifics such as drivers).

Still, while that is all good, they should offer users to opt-out if they so wish.
