I've been keeping an eye on Windows 11 updates, and this Start menu tweak sounds like a nice quality-of-life improvement—making it easier to navigate without extra clicks. Nuh, I have given up on Start altogether. Recently SCS has killed ETS game as well, after decades of playing. What is going on with this world, it is all about money.

I prefer to use the W.11 Start menu only... because that's what comes with it natively.
I would never use StartAllBack because it increases the potential risk surface.
It does seem to depend on screen size in my case, on my laptop & other laptops the new way is fine, on this 32" 3840 × 2160 display the Start Menu has become far to big for me, however as any reg fixes to go back will likely be temporary & as I generally liked the 11 system (until this month) and as I don't want to add another start system my options are few ...

It is safe; just the concept of the more apps installed, the larger attack surface area.
You will notice that in my post I wrote “potential.”
You know that all software has vulnerabilities that are currently present but have not yet been discovered and therefore not exploited.
The potential increase in the attack surface stems precisely from this.
You add third-party code which, in the case of StartAllBack, injects code, replaces the shell, and loads DLLs, and requires elevated privileges to function because it modifies system processes.
Will it ever be exploitable?
It does not depend solely on the software.
It depends on the willingness of an attacker who is determined to find a critical bug that can be exploited remotely.
You could say it's a statistical probability.
The “risk” is there and will never be zero.
Will it be low?
Perhaps, but certainly higher than the native Start menu.
