Security News If you wanted total visibility over high-risk individuals, you’d build a mobile virtual network operator called Cape

They will succeed for how long is the question…

Previous projects didn’t last.

Also with these big name investors there is a big possibility for backdoors.
Yes they didn't last because the criminal phones didn't have the resources to run a secure phone. Cape looks like it does or will, it is funded heavily by VC and has a media buzz about it and is pumped everywhere at the moment. Everything has the possibility for a backdoor, if Cape are getting this much press and funding they most likely have in built protections and surveillance against the phones becoming used for crime related activities, I haven't checked though.

And they could be pumping up the user base only to sell it off to some hedge fund, investment group, etc. Good business practice is one thing but a lot of businesses are just rackets run by vulture capitalists. They can't all be on the up and up like our friend @Trident's is. :)

Agree. But people including VC are to blame for eating the marketing :poop: There is a need for such a service like cape but for criminal use. Business case lees so.

Ask any government what they do when they go to hostile environments for business and diplomacy. They would give their people burner phones, probably custom iPhones with lock-down mode enabled and vulnerable and exploitable bits ripped out. Also didn't we do this whole secure phone before in Silent Circle devices? Those never took off even with the heavy marketing and subscriptions by USA agencies.

Again what is cape using for their handsets? GOS. It's just another secure service for people who don't have the skills to root their phone. I'm not saying cape isn't good! It looks very polished and I would use it except it needs to be audited and their claims tested by independent testers.
