From a security perspective, it sounds great, but as far as backups go, I can imagine dozens of scenarios, what could go wrong, just the algorithm (done by people, who make mistakes). You can encrypt and divide your files yourself and upload to various cloud services, but using one service is more convenient, though less safe.

I rather spend money on onedrive or google if i wanted to pay for storage, i just move to onedrive as google will limit uploads in future

Also mega has like 50 gt free , and been around longer than most if i wanted storage for my random stuff
