I have created a new Outlook mail account; everything was okay and l logged off.
The next day tried to log in, but I was informed the account is locked due to suspicious activity.

I got my dynamic IP address from this website: https://whatismyipaddress.com/
Then I checked it against several blacklists using this website: Email Blacklist Check - IP Blacklist Check - See if your server is blacklisted
Apart from two of them; it was not listed.
I switched the router off and on; checked the newly assigned IP address and it was also blacklisted by the same two lists.

I had full scan by both Kaspersky and Microsoft defender; both were clean.
Is my PC infected; could be a router malware?

It's possible but not necessarily the case that your PC or router is infected. Sometimes, IP addresses get blacklisted due to previous user's activities. Try contacting your ISP to request a new IP or use a VPN. Also, ensure your PC and router's firmware are up-to-date.

Windows is up-to-date.
My modem router is not; but I found several reports of failed log in to settings after firmware upgrade of it.
It has a custom firmware created by ISP.

It has a custom firmware created by ISP.
In this case, it's best to contact your ISP regarding the issue. They can help with the firmware update or possibly provide a new router. They can also assist you in getting a new IP address if yours continues to be blacklisted.

ISP doesn't allow firmware upgrade, as they use their custom one.

If your ISP doesn't allow firmware upgrades, then it's best to discuss the IP blacklist issue with them. They may be able to assign a new IP address to you or provide other solutions to resolve the problem.

That's good news! Different blacklist databases can have different results. If you're still having issues with your Outlook account, try contacting Microsoft support. They might be able to provide more insight into why your account was locked.
Tried, and chatted to tech support; it was helpless 😟

I'm sorry to hear that. You may want to try escalating the issue with Microsoft Support or consider creating a new Outlook account. Ensure to use a secure and private connection when creating and accessing your email account to avoid such issues in the future.

Already tried to create another account; the same scenario.
I use my home modem router connected to PC by cable, WiFi turned off, no other devices connected.

That's quite strange. It's possible that your IP address range has been flagged. You might want to consider using a reputable VPN service to change your IP address. This could help bypass any potential blacklisting issues.

I thought of trying this; used Edge browser built-in secure network feature (acts like a VPN), but no luck.

I'm sorry to hear that. If using a VPN didn't work, it might be an issue beyond just your IP address. You may want to consider using a different email service provider or consult with a cybersecurity expert to investigate further.

Your biggest problem was creating an Outlook email account. Sort of kidding, sort of not kidding, I despise Outlook.
You are right; I only need it for two reasons; the first one is to be allowed to use edge secure network, the second is the ability to create alias; only outlook and proton mail have this feature.

If it's listed in Spamhaus you know there has been some malicious activity associated with the dynamic I.P. Contact your ISP? Use a Vpn with the same location I.P address everytime?

No, I don't use VPN; it slows down traffic and sometimes ignites security alarm for some services.

Yeah but if you use the same location & .I.P you will have less trouble. You have a dynamic I.P. hence the problems. Only eBay will block you from using a Vpn, they are the worst. Most other sites/services won't if you use the same exit server & country all the time.

This is completely normal. The same website lists my IP address on three blacklists, two of these are the same as yours.

Each blacklist has different criteria why an IP address might end up on it.
Windows is up-to-date.
My modem router is not; but I found several reports of failed log in to settings after firmware upgrade of it.

I don't think it has anything to do with your router. I never heard for a case where someone got their router hacked. ISPs in my country aren't known for giving you the best and latest. Router attacks are very hard to do so and are typically oriented towards corporations, not the average Joe, as the rewards tend to be huge.
ISP doesn't allow firmware upgrade, as they use their custom one.
They might update without your knowledge and during night when internet usage is very low. I never had my ISP upgrade the router firmware though.
I checked it again by a differet website: https://www.abuseipdb.com/
It says: it is not reported and everything is okay!View attachment 288514
Try this website. It scans huge number of blacklists.

This is what I got...

Your biggest problem was creating an Outlook email account. Sort of kidding, sort of not kidding, I despise Outlook.
I used Gmail for quite some time, created an Outlook.com account when the service launched. Ever since then it's my primary e-mail service I use. It definitely offers way more features Gmail doesn't have. And as a bonus, mail storage isn't shared with OneDrive so I have 15 GB of mail storage + 30 GB of OneDrive.
You are right; I only need it for two reasons; the first one is to be allowed to use edge secure network, the second is the ability to create alias; only outlook and proton mail have this feature.
There are much better free VPNs than Edge Secure Network. Use ProtonVPN or Windscribe. ProtonVPN is unlimited in free version, and Windscribe offers more bandwidth than Edge Secure Network and large selection of servers. Both are more private than Microsoft's VPN.

Also, take a look at Cloudflare WARP; free VPN, hides your IP and encrypts traffic. The only thing it doesn't is change your location.
No, I don't use VPN; it slows down traffic and sometimes ignites security alarm for some services.
You could use Cloudflare WARP though; it always assigns you the IP address of data center nearest to you.
