Kaspersky has anti-rootkit protection, so yes, it can protect you against that. Although rootkits are not the current trendy threats (there was BlackLotus, but it was quickly blocked by antivirus vendors). Additionally, Kaspersky, along with Symantec/Norton, is one of the most responsive companies to new threats!
