Can anyone test Bitdefender Free vs Kaspersky Free?
I did, the problem is I can't trigger the update of BD free so I can't provide a proper test for it. I can't wait 1 hour for Bd free for it to trigger autoupdate
without the signature update, it got infected every single time
Its BB and cloud are not good enough especially the cloud implementation. I only saw it working only once in my life. It's so bad
even the paid BD isn't comparable with gdata, KIS and emsisoft in terms of BB

I'm glad they ditched stupid ugly white shield. While I preferred their "K" logo, this green shield with checkmark is still better option. Quite like it despite being locked down as far as settings go. But it offers more protection.

I think one of reasons for such decision is to extend their KSN capability (it works better if it's fed by clients that are not crippled) and to win back people who ran away because of US witch hunt after Kaspersky after the NSA contractor fiasco from last year...

@RejZoR: the appearing in the official site usually takes some time, but for example K2019 is already available in Spanish Kaspersky official site, also is in Kaspersky Support Site in English, and also officially announced in KL forum, so believe me that K2019 is already out :)

At first I got excited reading that they included System Watcher.
But then I kept reading and it's starting to look like a really dumbed-down version of the paid product.
It seems to have some serious limitations, according to info from their website:
- When Kaspersky Free starts for the first time, its protection components are configured automatically according to rules created by Kaspersky Lab specialists. You cannot configure protection components.
- Infected files are processed automatically according to rules created by Kaspersky Lab specialists. You cannot modify these rules manually.
- The number of files that can be restored cannot exceed 50 per one encryption process.

Tried the free one in a VM, if you are going to use this as an alternative to Windows Defender it should work fine but as with all free AV I always suggest data backups (i.e. Rollback Rx Home, Comodo Time Machine) and system backups (i.e. Macrium Reflect)

I'm liking it a lot actually. Default settings are good enough considering we gained full Kaspersky protection capability. That's quite significant and I can forgive the lack of configurability.

I'm just having problems with stupid long registration of KFA with Windows Security Center. And I hope they fixed the updating thing where it just failed to update reliably on my laptop that I rarely run for short time. It wasn't updating itself in those shorter times.

Installed KFA 2019 to my laptop and damn this thing is light on resources my laptop seems a lot faster now

Seems to be lighter than F-Secure Safe that i was previously using.
Any download link for KFA version 2019 (english) ???
I only find 18.0.0.405.

Sly- Yeah, I think it is. And this is coming from someone who HATES K on any Critical Infrastructure system.

Fortunately Kaspersky does not care about Home Users (Peasants) like us.

I'm with you there.. I hate K on any important, not only critical infrastructure. Including businesses dealing with things that may be interesting to other countries.

It's probably the perfect product for our peasantry, as you say.
