I’m wondering what Linux distributions can run on my laptop.
my laptop is a hp 2000 notebook pc
my memory (ram) is 3.8 GiB
my processor is Intel® Pentium(R) CPU 2020M @ 2.40GHz × 2
my graphics card is Intel® Ivybridge Mobile
my os type is 64 bit
my hard dive is 488.0 GB
I need a Linux distribution that looks very much like windows

can anyone help me out?

Zorin OS which pretty same on Windows operating system style.

For the Zorin Desktop based versions (not Lite):
1 GHz x86 processor
5 GB of Hard Drive space
512 MB of system memory (RAM)
Graphics card capable of 640x480 resolution

For the LXDE based versions (Lite):
266 MHz x86 processor
2GB of Hard Drive space
128 MB of system memory (RAM)

Actually other Linux distribution like OpenSuse, Linux Mint, Ubuntu and others can work on that specifications posted.

I agree with @jamescv7 , with the dual core, and 4 gig of ram, you could run just about any distro of the 64 bit variety. What software did you burn the ISO with?

You can install it just like Ubuntu (or any other Linux Distro). In my opinion a bootable USB option would be much better.

  • Create a Bootable Live USB from 32/64 Bit .iso file of Zorin OS.
  • It will enable you to boot to desktop and on desktop you will see link to install Zorin OS (as shown in the Image below).

You probably might have overlooked this installer link created on the desktop.

I hope it helps. :)
