I stopped using Eset the moment they decided to keep LiveGuard for Premium users only. I hate this approach.

Edit

Now there is a new trend in the industry. Almost every vendor launched a new product line that introduces what normal users do not need. A VPN, an optimisation utility and other bloatware. I understand that competition is even harder now due to the fact that MD has evolved so they need to offer sth new to convince users to buy their products.

Personally I prefer the approach of products like Emsisoft. They offer one product, a bloat-free one.

It'd be great if all vendors allow users to at least choose what components to insfall, but unfortunately this is not the case.
F-Secure Internet Security has no unnecessary components.

I believe it is EOL now? Or planned to be.

Edit.

According to this link it is unfortunately EOL

That was the Legacy (old code) version (Nov 2023), there are no plans to discontinue the "new" version.

@Shadowra

I don't know the list ahead for the return from vacation, but can you try the 2024 model PCmatic? The new interface seems pretty good. Also, I think a trial version is impossible. If anyone has managed to obtain something like a trial version, can they let me know?

I'd love to, but I can't get a trial version....

Perplexity AI tells me that Appcheck and MBRfilter might be complementary and that they are not redundant... whch leads me to wonder how effective they would be against ransomeware in tandem. Would there be interest in doing some tests? I would be very interested in seeing that... thanks again for all the work, its much appreciated!

Edit: I just noticed that "various types of malware" is mentioned... maybe throw some other baddies at them?

"By combining MBRFilter's MBR protection with AppCheck's vulnerability management, users can create a more robust security posture against various types of malware and exploits. This multi-layered approach is recommended as part of a comprehensive security strategy."

Every once in awhile I get re-interested in AppGuard, and see that someone purporting to be a rep is now an MT member. Have you tested it lately...? See post 126.
Looks like your previous test was Feb 2022

No, I don't have a trial version.
If this representative would like to send me one, I'll be happy to try it out :)

Hello :)

Here are the next tests:

- DrWeb Security Space (video editing in progress, I think it'll be out this weekend)
- MeyeProtect Antivirus
- Bitdefender Total Security
- Norton (Norton engine) vs Norton v24 (Avast engine)

If I forget any queries, please let me know, and I'll add them as soon as possible! :D (without spam ^^ )

Enjoy!
