App Review McAfee: how bad is the worst antivirus?

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.

If I followed every trend in the Forum since I joined, I'd probably be bankrupt by now... I will install some stuff when I can get a good license price, just to see how it's going, like the new Avast/Norton and even the current McAfee a short time ago, but what I paid for both licenses wouldn't buy me a sandwich :)
I'm in the same boat and despite having cheap antivirus licenses like Avast, Norton and Kaspersky, I'm just using the free and now reliable Microsoft Defender.

Low impact on the system, very acceptable protection considering that only I use my machines, "great" price (free), zero compatibility/bug/break issues with the HTTPS protocol.

About these hypes that I see here in the forum I even appreciate, I like to read about it, but that's all, after the Trend Micro hype a few years ago promoted by a certain user routinely banned and later from the Cylance app, these fashions just don't catch me.

Who's this routinely banned user promoting Trend?

Who's this routinely banned user promoting Trend?

This guy:

He was banned in Wilders Security Forum and here on MalwareTips multiple times...

Were you thinking that I was talking about you? If so I wasn't ...

The style of writing is very familiar, but I’ll keep quiet for now.

I don't want to make the conversations any more colorful than they already are, but I couldn't let this one pass. I'm using McAfee because I got a one-year license from a member here at MT, so that's why I'm using McAfee. @Shadowra also got the same license that I got from that member, and he tested McAfee with the license he got from the member who gave it to me too. @Nightwalker, don't take what I'm about to say the wrong way. I started using McAfee before all this hype. It wasn't @trindent who changed my mind or made other people want to switch to McAfee. They're just testing the product and showing that it has improved lately, and in fact, McAfee has improved. The other members are here out of curiosity and to chat, but no one has influenced anyone else's opinion. I have great respect for @Trident and for you too, who are a veteran member here on the forum. I hope you don't take what I said the wrong way. I personally started using McAfee before the video came out and I liked it right away. I have the names of the members, if you want, I can pass them on to confirm the facts with these members, and they will confirm what I'm saying. I'm not making these statements up, just saying that's how it started, as far as I remember, this hype was not the reason for my switch to McAfee. I also have licenses for Kasperksy and F-secure, and I use any of them. I don't care about certain things as long as the product is efficient, that's what matters to me.

One of the reasons people complained about Mcafee is that it came pre-installed on new computers like Dell, and was hard to uninstall.

So I guess Mcafee is the new flavour of the month now?? :p
The uninstall used to take 10-15 min!!!!

It has the potential to be more than the flavour of the month, but we’ll see. It needs more testing.

@Nightwalker Now, look at the evidence where it all began for McAfee. Expired - Mcafee ultimate Total security 1 year(personal giveaway) You can look at the members I mentioned above. The thread was even closed by the moderator because it was turning into a mess, with people registering on MT as if a portal to another dimension had opened just to get a 1-year license for McAfee. I keep things very well, I have a good memory. I don't lie, I'm a sincere person, I don't pick fights with anyone. I'm just confirming the facts.

Pardon me but I don't even know who you are and I didn't read all the posts on this thread so I don't know why are you lashing out.

I actually wrote that I like those "hype" security solutions threads, I wasn't judging anyone here on this thread and followed the discussion that my old buddies like Harley and Silversurfer started.

Just to be clear english isn't my tongue language (portuguese is) and I don't like to use translators since a very long time ago so I can practice my writing skills in a foreign language, so my post may sounded a little dry or harsh.

I just completed my training in the Brazilian Military Police and became a lieutenant, it has been a long time since I posted in online forums (specially in another idiom), so take it easy, no need for 3 posts about me when I didn't even read a post that you made until now.

Yes, I understand. I'm calm, relax. It just seemed like you said that the conversations we had here in this thread about McAfee were influenced by @Trident, and that wasn't the case. As I was talking to him here and then you said those words "hype," it gave the impression that you were generalizing. But I misunderstood, I apologize, maybe it was a misunderstanding on my part. But about McAfee, it started with that thread that is now closed that I posted in my last post. That was posted by @Khushal from a YouTube video test. The conversations expanded over the days due to the endless McAfee topic, until the moderator came by yesterday. You can review some previous posts. As I said, I apologize once again. I did not mean to offend you; that was never my intention.

@Trident (or anyone) if you know: shortly after McAfee install if offered to put its browser extension on firefox and I declined, but reconsidering that decision, but now Mc is not giving me a chance to "automagically" install it again, and I don't find it at mozilla add-ons. Do you know the tweak to manually put it on firefox? (is ext as effective on firefox as it is on Edge (chrome)?

Download and install this, https://www.mcafee.com/en-us/safe-browser/mcafee-webadvisor.html

then it will add the extension in your browser, or reinstall Firefox and it will be automatically added.

I on a personal basis see no problems with any 'flavour of the month' trying out new ideas whether I agree with them or not is still again for me part of my overall life not just on the net - Finding hassle free solutions esp. for friends & family whose pc's I still look after is good, Mcafee is an example of that - if its turns out as good as it seems is a solution that people who are not savvy yet like to faff with things they don't understand (again friends neighbours & family) & light as most others don't 'usually' have PC systems that are the fastest there are, s for me a light AV helps big time.
It seems technology is changing more now than ever more so for the masses, if we don't keep up or just stay as we are quickly get left behind, I thought that is or at least one of the purposes of forums such as this? Plus Mcafee is very inexpensive if you look in the right places :p

You said it all, your words were very well put. You took the words right out of my mouth. That's what I should have said. McAfee will be perfect for these people, my father himself, he only knows how to turn on the computer, go to YouTube, and then turn off the computer, and nothing more than that.
