App Review McAfee: how bad is the worst antivirus?

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.

I liked the concept; it proves this component of MA is working 👏
In addition to blocking malware efficiently, McAfee also protects against common scams (all of them start in browser and in email). Such as “wi will charge you £350 to renew your NortUn subscriptions” and so on. That’s a modern and broad protection.

Millions are lost to these scams every year, even though we are thinking “who really falls for that”…

Poor users, like me, who cannot afford security suits with ability to protect against scam, try to educate themselves and do the job.

Since McAfee has been portrayed as an advanced security solution in many posts here, I'm giving it another chance and have installed it on one of my computers. I will monitor it closely and ban it at the slightest sign of misbehavior. ;)

I tested it for over a month. It's extremely light, fast, and effective. Even better, I didn’t experience the performance issues I usually face with Windows Defender when accessing folders with dozens of subfolders and hundreds of files. It also didn’t interfere with my network connections.

I might consider switching to it if I can get a license at a good price when my current solution license expires, or possibly return to Windows Defender if they resolve this specific performance issue by then.

Uninstalling it was quick and simple. Unlike some other solutions, I didn’t have to manually delete orphaned drivers or scheduled tasks.

The older versions of McAfee had serious issues, and unfortunately, the current version still suffers from that bad reputation.

I hope it goes well for you though I'm sure you can image back if need be as can I still (there be dragons though) :D

on a personal basis see no problems with any 'flavour of the month'
Neither do I, if people want to check out a solution on their computer its none of my business, and every time someone does something like this it's a learning process, and maybe they can pass along something that they have learnt on here for the rest of us.

I had a phishing in a very private inbox last night o_O and more and more I'm getting text messages on iphone, nearly 1 day, and I am running blocker$ on iphone too.

Download and install this, https://www.mcafee.com/en-us/safe-browser/mcafee-webadvisor.html

then it will add the extension in your browser, or reinstall Firefox and it will be automatically added.
thanks, but I found it inside the McAfee settings, I had to make firefox the default browser for it to install. It installed in firefox and I gave it permissions and the McAfee app now says firefox is protected, but its extension icon appears grayed out! is that normal, if it is protecting firefox, ie gray unless it alerts to something?

by the way (fwiw) this is the McAfee language you see when you install its extension into firefox: (I need to read thru the Privacy Policy since it uses the word "share")

This is the key highlight.

If you enable Edge or Chrome built-in security features, you are subjected to the same collections.

Firefox probably doesn’t collect anything.

When I click the Open command on the McAfee icon in the taskbar, the program window appears, but it takes 53 seconds for the program window to actually fill with content. Is this the case for you too?
Same here, if you click on the icons on the left in the window, its oke ! I dont mind so much
If you double click on the icon its instantly open.
