Question MD Defender and slow loading of installers ans icons

Hello,

On my Thinkpad X13 Gen 3, I decided to run MD. Performance wise, everything is running like a charm, but there is only one hiccup.

I do use my external HDD a lot and I have stored tens of exectuables as backup (installers of programmes to save internet bandwidth).

Here it takes up to 1 min for the installers icons to appear. I am planning to configure MD from GP later today, but is there a solution for this behaviour?

I have noticed sth weird, the icons appear instantly if I use Xyplorer instead of opening the folder from explorer.exe

Add the folder containing the installers to exclusions to avoid on-access scanning.
Scan on demand the installer before executing.

But why does MD repeatedly scan the files in the folder despite no changes being made in the content?

The happens with Avast; in Avast settings there is a option to disable on-access scan.
I have noticed Avast, although supposed to be lighter than MD, delays launch of MPC-HC, while MD does not.
Every AV has pros and cons; select the one with least cons for your specific apps and needs.

I have similar experience with MD. It scans data each time it is accessed and as it seems it doesn't store information about already scanned and clean files, like Eset does.
When performing file related operations (copying files, opening folders) this can significantly increase time needed to perform operation.
