Microsoft Edge users on Windows 11 can now try a new Game Assist feature that will let them access the web browser via the Game Bar overlay. Game Assist first launched on the Edge Insider Beta Channel in November, and it’s now available as an opt-in feature on the browser’s Stable Channel.
When enabled, Microsoft Edge Game Assist can display an Edge window on top of a running game in the Game Bar overlay. The Edge window can then be pinned alongside other Game Bar widgets, and it shares the same browser profile as Edge on PC. This Edge window also displays useful shortcuts to services like Twitch, Discord, and Spotify in a sidebar.
Microsoft Edge Game Assist also has a game-aware new tab page that will surface helpful resources for a selection of popular games that are running in the background. Only 14 games are supported right now including Baldur’s Gate 3, Diablo IV, Minecraft, Valorant, Roblox, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. II: Heart of Chernobyl, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and the Edge team said that Game Assist will automatically show tips and guides for more popular games over time.
