Edge's new Canary version is now available from Google Play, and it is now mostly feature-parity with the desktop version.

What you need to know
  • Microsoft is working to unify the codebase across all platforms.
  • Edge Canary for Android is now live and ready to be downloaded.
  • This version of Edge for Android matches Edge Canary's latest release for Windows 10 desktop with many similar features.
Microsoft announced in early March that it was going to unify the code behind its Edge browser across mobile versions on iOS and Android. We're now getting our first taste of that with a brand-new Edge Canary build for Android that is ready to download (via Reddit).

This version of the Edge browser – 91.0.858.0 – also matches the Windows 10 desktop version of Edge Canary, just as Microsoft promised.

Microsoft Edge Canary for Android gets updated with exciting new features:
A few days ago, Microsoft launched Microsoft Edge Canary browser in the Google Play Store, and now, it’s receiving its first update on Android. Taking the app version to 91.0.862.0, the update makes adds two new features, general bug fixes, and performance improvements.

Talking about what’s new, the updated Microsoft Edge Canary has a new menu design — the ellipse menu now shows a vertical list of options vs grid icons in the previous update. Also, the new Edge Canary no longer shows open tabs in a graphic preview, instead, you get a compact list of items.

Edge Dev now available for Android:
Two weeks ago Microsoft started releasing new development channels for their Edge browser for Android, starting with the Edge Canary channel.

Today Microsoft released a new Edge Dev channel version of the browser.

The Edge Dev channel browser is built on Chromium 91, while the Edge Canary browser is built on Chromium 92.

The Canary version is being updated daily and the Dev version should be more stable, with weekly new builds. Microsoft hopes to keep the mobile browsers in lockstep with the desktop counterpart and keep all their versions, including Windows, Mac, and Android in sync with a common code base.

The new Edge Dev browser can be found in the Google Play Store here.
