Thanks, silversurfer. (y)

Was having trouble posting and editing comments today using Firefox v. 96 and uBlock Origin 1.40.6 (by process of elimination with my ext.). Updating uBO via the app updater to 1.40.8 fixed the problem (the text was disappearing from the box when trying to edit). Now, hopefully, uBO stays OK with this latest Firefox update--keeping my custom rules disabled for now in case something breaks.

Mozilla releases Firefox 96.0.1 to fix connection issues

The first addresses the connection issue of Firefox. Firefox users who have applied the workaround on their systems should undo it by setting the preference network.http.http3.enabled to TRUE again on about:config.

The second bug fixes an issue in Firefox's proxy handling behavior. Firefox 96.0 did not use all proxy exceptions defined on Windows according to the bug report, but only the first. The previous version, Firefox 95.0.2 worked with all exceptions.

The first fix resolves an issue in Firefox for Linux. According to the bug report, Firefox on Linux used to change the height of the tab bar when audio was played in the browser. Firefox displays a sound indicator in tab items when it detects audio playback; this indicator seems to have triggered the resize behavior on Linux. The update to Firefox 96.0.2 resolves the issue.

The second issue is specific to the LastPass extension. It occurred only in private browsing mode and caused the Lastpass dialog window to be displayed without any information (blank in other words). The issue is fixed when users update to the new version of Firefox.

The third and final issue listed in the release notes caused Facebook applications to crash Firefox when the application window is resized. At least some Facebook applications are affected by this, and users who use these applications may want to update to Firefox 96.0.2 to address the issue.

" Mozilla will release Firefox 96.0.3 Stable and Firefox 91.5.1 ESR, later today. The new versions of Firefox address a Telemetry data sending issue in the browser. "
The official release notes are not published yet. They will contain one entry only (likely):
Fixed an issue that allowed unexpected data to be submitted in some of our search telemetry.

The information that is provided does not provide details, but it looks as if data was submitted by Firefox that was not supposed to be submitted. The data was submitted as part of the browser's search Telemetry feature.

The linked bug listing on Mozilla's bug tracking site, bug 1751746, is unhelpful as the bug is not publicly visible.

The term "unexpected data" could refer to any kind of data that the search Telemetry module is not designed to collect.

Firefox users who have disabled Telemetry in the browser were not affected by the issue. Users can turn off Telemetry in the following way: [...]
