Oh, so it means they have just added the AV Signatures to the engine. That means they haven't added in MSE directly, it means they have added the signature in/

You can see it shows, Antimalware Client, Antivirus Def, Antispyware Def where Windows 7 Defender doesn't.

True, but they should still update the engine so it works better. The engine is old, so they should update it to 2.0 with a massive overhaul, allowing MSE 3 features.

Like mrXidus said. The engine is the same across all products. It just the Client(UI) and the definitions.

Can you tell me more about SpyNet - does it acts like a cloud and what are the advantages of Basic and Advanced membership ? SpyNet has been renamed to MS Active Protection service in MSE 4 , I see.

RE: mse new 4.0 update has new detection technologies.

It does the same function, one of the reason was renamed because Microsoft Spynet likely to be a spyware name for some users.

Nothing official but I got this from MS Answers:

The released version of MSE v4 began rolling out via Microsoft Update today. All users of MSE v2.x will be upgraded eventually, but not all at once.

As in the past, MSE is staged out to users over a period of time.

In most cases the upgrade should happen without any issue and some may not even notice that the upgrade has taken place.

The download for new installations will also be v4 starting today. V2 is no longer available.
