Hello everyone,
Today we've added new features to the Search system. Here is a short list with the main changes:
1. We're now using ElasticSearch for the Search system - This will provide higher quality and faster search results. While this new feature is generally fairly invisible to users, this is by far the biggest change to the Search system.
2. Search Bar Autocomplete - When you'll type in the search bar you will see real-time suggestions based on what you have typed so far.
3. Suggestions/"Did You Mean" Functionality - When you have results for your search but there is a more popular, similar, term of the forums, you'll be presented with a "Suggestion" box. This can lead to better results. It also helps reduce typos.
Also when there are no results for your query, you will be presented with a list of similar terms that appear on the forums.
4. Similar Threads - While this is not a new feature, we've changed how it works and now it uses ElasticSearch for its queries. This will lead to better results, and we've also changed the layout for this box.
