The one & only issue I have with Emsisoft is FP's which is more an annoyance & it leaves the user making decisions as to whether to allow a potential FP or not - I feel it really needs improvement which is why it's not on this PC despite having a license - Just MHO.

fwiw I have emsi business without EDR in VMw and don't get many false+, but I am not downloading a lot of stuff now-a-days. But often I am running another VM.

I had Emsisoft Home last year and didn't have any FPs. Gone down the MD route this year but been considering grabbiing it again as it was smooth hassle free.

EDIT: It did use around 650mb of RAM but their article: Why Antivirus uses so much RAM explains it well. With the 16gig I have on board, it made no noticable impact.

that is also my current experience with emsi "smooth hassle free" (with fast support the one or two questions I asked -- IIRC an immediate chat with emsi tech in UK).

I've had 2 FPs in the last few days. The first time the message came when HP initiated a BIOS update. The next message came when I closed the newly installed astronomy program Redshift9 and thereby activated the automatic update search. In both cases the behavior analysis reported a warning because a certificate was missing.

There is no noticeable improvement in performance in daily use. But Emsisoft Business runs for me without any noticeable lag.

I do think some of the FP's I had were caused by a combination of EAM & Armor - I've since removed Armor & likely wont be using it again - From my point of view the misconception that EAM is heavy on a system maybe was true at one time but recently EAM is no heaver than other Av's. The review recently by Shadowa showed it to be a worthwhile AV/AM, & probably is the most privacy conscious solution there is.

It's fine it's still only £30. Anyway, I have some of those on the whim moments and I have up to 30 days for cancellation if it ends up not working out.

I did end up cancelling and getting a refund as I was a bit hasty. Great company though, I will use them again at some point.

Every single time I install Emsisoft for testing, it is the same result. It uses 1+ GB RAM, updates are slow use a lot of CPU, and scans are slow and use a lot of CPU.

I don't care about the RAM. The systems have 32 or 64 GB RAM so no big deal there. But the other stuff - including their quirky GUI which Christian Mairoll should have left alone as separate tabs - I don't know what exactly about the entire package - I just don't like it. I can't quite identify what combination of things that make me want to install it. All I know is that I just don't like it and it never lasts on any system.

To be fair, I think I will buy a single license and give it a long-term full shot at convincing me it has greatly improved. My impression is that it has gone down-hill a bit in user experiences since Fabian moved-out of the position he held 5 or 6 years ago.

The updates have become much faster and hardly slow down the PC anymore. I don't have the impression that the scans are slow. When I scan, 4 of my 12 processor cores are at 100% capacity. The other cores are hardly used.

@bazang I agree with Oldie 1950 (fwiw) I had not used emsi in a few years, recently put emsi_business on VMware win10 GuestOS, and was pleasantly surprised

All one really need do is configure Scans to "Paranoid" and then perform a one-time full-system scan immediately after install. After that, it is OK to change the scan type back to "Optimized" or whatever their terminology is. Real-time protection will take care of the rest. An occasional full-system scan is OK.

Emsisoft always uses a lot of CPU during system boot. No matter what system I place it on, the system fans go brrrrrrrrr... for a few minutes after system boot. That is all Emsisoft consuming 10-55% CPU. It makes system Restart take 3 to 4X longer. Then I have experienced problems where I cannot login using Windows Hello because Emsisoft is "doing its thing consuming CPU" and when that happens, you cannot login using Windows Hello. You have to reboot the system. The web portal has a lot of visual issues.

Mind you this on workstations with topped-out hardware specs. As the user I can feel, see, and hear Emsi's impact on the systems.

We will see how it goes. I will give it the Full Monty 30 days unless I have a couple more interferences with Hello login. If that happens, "Off wit Emsi's head." Sorry, but not sorry.

Bugs do not happen to everyone. Just because you don't experience it doesn't mean others should experience the same.

Uninstalled Emsi and as soon as I did, Windows Hello non-functional login went away.

Emsi could not last even 48 hours, and I was fully prepared to fork over the $119 to test it for a full year.

Emsi does not even have a beta tester program any longer. They want you to pay for the license and report bugs for free. LOL.
