Hey guys,

Recently I dug up one of my parent's old Chromebooks which they have since stopped using. It has recently stopped getting security updates and I was wondering if there would be any suggestions with hardening the OS (besides an adblocker) or even maybe dual-booting if that's a possibility.

Thanks! :D

Hi DJ Panda,

If your Chromebook has stopped receiving security updates, it is recommended to either upgrade to a newer model or install a different OS altogether. With regards to hardening the OS, you could take the following steps:

1. Disable guest mode if you haven't done so already.
2. Enable "Require password to wake from sleep" in Chromebook settings.
3. Disable "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this Chromebook" to prevent unauthorized access.
4. Enable "Ask for password to let other users sign in" to prevent other users from access your Chromebook.

Regarding dual-booting, it depends on the model of your Chromebook. Some Chromebooks support it, while others don't. Check your Chromebook's documentation or perform a web search to determine if dual-booting is possible for your system.

Hope this helps!
