HI,

Following a request from Kuttus our beloved malware remover specialist, i will test TNS Antivirus 2013; i admit i never heard of it before. Kuttus said it is developed by a 20 years old guy.

so i will write this review in same time i discover the product !

i test it on a real system (Rollback Rx's snapshot )

Installation

He ask me to remove Windows Defender :D oki i just turn it off.

then this scren appears explaining the licensing system :

Interface

on my system it use around 200mb of RAM in 3 processes

i observed lot of spelling errors.

Main tab

S00qBwW.jpg

quite simple, the optimize button launch the temp file cleaner.

Security Tab

QR24rBk.jpg

i dont know what are the purposes of those various "firewalls" and without help tab , i am in the dark.

Scan tab

Quite basic and common, i did a custom scan of my c:\windows , it took less than a minute.

Settings/Module Tab

here it seems to be the real-time modules tab, it seems that TNS possesses a kind of USB/removal drive protection/ vaccination features

RAe7qV0.jpg

there the Popups settings, TNS seems to have a kind of anti-executable

it has a lot of False positive , almost every Windows executables are detected and request permissions or not to run.

The parental control can lock the browser.

Tools Tab

TNS has various tools including Startup and Process monitors

Update Tab

nothing special there

Log tab

iBlf8sG.jpg

Here are the various logs and trusted/blocked processes. It made some errors in recognizing some files; in example it detect Winrar or Java on my system (i never use them)

Malware TEST

i used the samples from our hub : http://malwaretips.com/Thread-Malware-Pack-mixed-malware

3 months old

results:

context scan : 0/39

by clicking the malware:

the anti-executable module launch a popup but without any valuable or helpful infos

Final Note

This software is too young to be considered as a valuable solution, not saying the lack of information and some modules seems not ready to be used.

I rate it 1/5 for the try.

Thanks for reading

RE: [ Live Review] TNS Antivirus 2013

It can't detect 3 month old malware, oh my

I'm probably better off with just an on-demand scanner :s

unfortunately for it...the concept is good, but the product is too young and also the lack of financial resources may be the cause.

I'm probably better off with just an on-demand scanner :s

if you have alongside a system-wide virtualization software, rollback system or just Sandboxie, you are right :D

Quite an undertaking for a 20 year old.I imagine that the lack of financial resources is a huge factor in this.Wasn't there kid on here a while ago looking for backers to get in on a Security Software that he was developing.
I would have given it another star for the fancy shield and eye pleasing crest :D

Just like Fiery said better off as an On-Demand scanner, or don't even use it at all.

Great review!! You know it is hard for the small developers to keep up with the large companies in security products.

I have never heard of this product before.

Enjoy!!:D

Littlebits as I told, this one is a very new one... Actually I am also hearing about it when I see an article about the developer in a newspaper... He is a student :)

If i had his talent, i will start by a simple and light scanner with a decent detection/heuristic rate, later if it has success i will add some prevention features.
He want to add all the fluffy/attractive stuff at the same time so the product has nothing good.

ok that is why some features are present in the GUI but not in the core of the software.
