It creates a full registry backup, which can be used to restore any changes to the registry. This should be enough to get Windows working again. Once I had an issue where it would stopped my browser from running.

But it's very rare for it to cause problems. It's a excellent program and the author added some fixes I suggested.

Yes but this time I couldn't boot even in security mode... Restore backup time :)

After regaining my administrator privilege from another thread with the help from @Andy Ful (many thanks) I carried out a repair of Windows Update following the below link using the tool by Auslogics. But automatic update still gave the same error message after installation. So I did a manual download and a manual installation and bingo! Now The Windows Security Patch has been updated.

kb4549951 will not install with error 0x800f0900

HP Elitebook Ryzen 7

Other updates are fine.

This is the 3rd or 4th month in a row that update won't install ...

Download the Windows update and do a manual installation. Can manually download the Windows update from here

If cannot work then try to follow the below procedure

You can see that the procedure in troubleshooting Windows update errors is quite similar and that's by running the various Windows tools. In the article below Auslogics has a software tool just to do that.

In my case after running the above tool I was able to manually install the update which I couldn't do it before running the tool. You can give it a try.

Before uninstalling the KB4549951 Cumulative Update, you should know that you would also be removing mitigation for vulnerabilities affecting the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Cloud Infrastructure, Windows Virtualization, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Kernel, Windows Media, Windows Shell, Windows Management, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Virtualization, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Update Stack, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine.
