PeaZip 4.8.1 Released

PeaZip is an open source file and archive manager. It's freeware and free of charge for any use.

PeaZip can extract most of archive formats both from Windows and Unix worlds, ranging from mainstream 7Z, RAR, TAR and ZIP to experimental ones like PAQ/LPAQ family, currently the most powerful compressor available.

Features:
- 7Z's AES256 encryption
- ZIP WinZip's AE encryption based on AES256 (and ZipCrypto for legacy compatibility); can decrypt PKZip's AES encryption
- FreeARC's ARC: AES256, Blowfish, Twofish256 and Serpent256 - this format is also capable to generate recovery records to protect data against corruption
- PEA: AES256 EAX authenticated encryption

How does Peazip compare to 7zip? And does Peazips work on Windows 8 X86 and 64 Bits O.S.?

Not sure, how it would compare, but I would think there is not much of a difference. PeaZip should work on Windows 8 as far as I know. :)

Winzip is bloated and not even free, i wonder who still use it :D

i will be very interested to know what feature in Winzip makes you keeping it

I'm guessing he keeps it for the compression features.

Har Har.

Still Winzip is bloated. WinRAR is far better. But yeah well Peazip is the best. Using it from 3 years.

The best thing about WinRAR, it works after it's trial period ends.

I prefer using 7-zip, I mostly use it's Context Menu options rather than it's UI.
