Fake Zoom and Google Meet pages trick users into installing Teramind monitoring software on Windows systems through phishing links and fake updates.
Video meeting links arrive in inboxes every day, which is exactly why attackers keep using them as bait. Security researchers have documented a phishing campaign that imitates Zoom and Google Meet meetings to trick people into installing monitoring software on their Windows computers.
According to researchers at Malwarebytes, the campaign attempts to abuse Teramind, a legitimate employee monitoring platform normally used by companies to track activity on corporate devices. In the reported scheme, victims are allegedly tricked into installing the software after visiting fake meeting pages, allowing attackers to monitor activity while users believe they are simply joining an online meeting.
