One service that’s popular with Neowin readers that does sell and share certain information is Plex.

The company says that to provide free movies, shows, and live TV, it needs to display ads during playback and as part of this it sells data including personal information like hashed emails and ad IDs to third-parties for advertising and marketing purposes.

Ahhh Plex, not sure why you would use it.Just plug USB/NAS into TV and you have what you need. Also Stremio has taken over from Kodi.
