I did a new clean install this last week. Installed all my must have software, which included Wise Cleaner.

I Made a BU with Macrium.

Then I did cleanup, ran SFC /scannow, and it found corruption. It fixed it without any assistence from me.

I figured it was a cleaner. I had to find out which one. I use HDCleaner, and Wise cleaner.

I ran HDcleaner, ran SFC /scannow. No problems.

I ran Wise cleaner, then SFC /scannow the problem reappeared. I ran SFC /scannow it fixed it again.

I uninstalled Wise, rebooted, ran SFC /scannow, no problems. I ran HDcleaner again, ran SFC /scannow again, still no problems.

I have not contacted Wise. But this is a just heads up for you guys, here at MWT

Thanks for sharing your experience. It seems like Wise Cleaner might be causing the SFC /scannow corruption issue. It's always good to isolate the problem to a specific software. You might want to report this issue to Wise Cleaner's support team.

Have you checked what files got corrupted and what was restored? Logs are stored in cbs.log file in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS.

Probably removal of "important" features and files, which can trigger SFC. I turn off PC with WDC and I do not have WDC related SFC issues.
This is why you shouldn't run so called "optimizers". We're not in 2000s anymore. Windows has these tools built-in and runs them automatically when needed.
Like Windows 11 defragmenting SSDs (fixed twice after being ignored) or disk cleanup which fails to fix windows updates, not to mention manual SFC scan. MS still lives in 2000. 😑

Maybe I missed something concerning these 2 cleaners, but I understood them to just be simple cleaners, to rid your pc of junk temp files and internet crud.

I sometimes get corruption on SFC etc which sometimes is because I alter somethings from how MS wants them, actually I only do SFC if I perceive there is an issue with Windows which is rare.
I use both of those without issue BTW.

I understand...

Still I had an issue on a clean install, and found it suspicious.

But then again Windows is Windows and from a simple google search one can find problems that have been on going since Win95

I can say since the uninstall of "Wise"..... I have ran the scan several times, just to check, and have not had any problems...

Whereas for the last 12 month or so, I would run the scan and seemed to have problems each time, I ran it. Thus the NEW clean installation...

So is it Wise cleaner? No? What are the odds right ?

I haven't had issue with defragmentation of the SSD, though I remember this being an issue on Windows 10. Disk Cleanup is getting phased out I think, and Storage Sense is its replacement.

They usually clean stuff that aren't meant to be cleaned and touch areas they shouldn't. Regarding junk files, you can always set up Storage Sense in Windows settings. It will clean system and app temp files at interval you selected. For browsers, I recommend either setting the option to clean browsing data automatically on exit or doing it manually every month or so. I set up Firefox to clean everything on exit except data of some sites I want to be kept signed in.

These cleaners caused me so much problems. I had issues with OS and web browsers after using them which is also the reason why I hate them with passion. I vividly remember cleaning browsing data with CCleaner and how it corrupted my user profile in Chrome. I lost everything and had to start from scratch.

SFC is broken for a long time now. Some might remember I had issues immediately after clean installation which were actually resolved by installing Windows again through Windows Update.
I doubt the reliability of this type of check; several times performing it immediately after Windows install before even installing any programs and get corrupted files fixed.
This too. SFC even though fixed some "corrupted files" it never actually fixed something for me. I stopped using both SFC and DISM for resolving problems. If I stumble upon a problem, I'll just use the feature which downloads new ISO from Windows Update and installs it while keeping all the files and apps untouched.
