Troubleshoot Problem with Show/hide desktop icons

Briefly explain your current issue(s)

I was experiencing issue with the Windows show/hide desktop icon. When I choose hide desktop icons, it will remain hidden until i turned off my pc and turned it on again.

Steps taken to resolve, but have been unsuccessful

Restarting the machine several times

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Does restarting explorer.exe help?

taskkill /im explorer.exe /f & explorer.exe

You can try to rebuild icon cache, there are also some other caches, which can be cleaned, eg using Wise Disk Cleaner.

If I can recall correctly, that problem persist since the 1809 build. When I just upgraded it to 19H1, the problem still exist

You have got some patience, I would have reinstalled already. 19H2 is almost done and its only main feature is to fix bugs, so maybe it will help.
