It is also open-source, and now you can store all kinds of information other than passwords there. They plan to go non-profit, and you can now get a lifetime subscription to both Proton Pass and Simple Login (to hide your email when you sign up for things online).

I'm not affiliated, I just thought it was interesting with the updated features and also I don't like paying for subscriptions (I'd rather pay all at once to own something, and doubt Proton is going out of business anytime soon).

KeepassXC

Like Keepass2Android? How well does it work? the only reason I haven't switched to it is because I am afraid of merge/sync errors between my different devices.

That's what I thought I saw as well, just Keepass2 for android or KeepassDX? Like @Parkinsond I'm mainly a notebook user, I'm just using my phone for texts, phone calls and photos. So it's not critical to have a version on my phone...but when I say I may not need it apart from being in front of my PC, is when I'll need it :)

I did see in the release notes, that it now imports Proton Pass passwords, so I'll give KeepassXC a try.

I liked KeepassXC, but I used Bitwarden now. But with KP, I just set up a cloud sync to a VPS I owned. It worked perfectly. But the ability to fill forms on Android is not as great, so you'll be copy/pasting fields more. But it works just fine.

So far the Proton Pass import and organizing in KeePassXC could take some time, it's a little more involved and work than I'm looking for. I'll go over the get started and user guide more in depth this weekend, otherwise, I'll just stay with Proton Pass.

The Proton Pass import feature in KeePassXC is new and not that good based on my personal tests, it needs more work, the Bitwarden import feature works good. By the way, the Proton Pass import feature is created by the KeePassXC developers while the Bitwarden import feature is from KeePass developer, maybe this is the reason.

Great, thank you for confirming it, as I thought maybe it was just me :) And with that, I'll pass on KeePassXC

You are welcome. I'm still keeping my Bitwarden account because importing its database to new services is easier.

Back when Bitdefender's Password manager didn't import some other PM files, it had to be a .cvs file which was almost the same pain for members to use as my KeePass situation. It was suggested a couple of times if they could import that file (the password managers default export file) into Bitwarden, then export it from there in which Bitdefender could more easily import it as part of it's accepted password manager's imports, would help. Then of course they, member would need to (if decided) delete their Bitwarden account. It was a pretty convoluted way of going about it. They eventually did get more accepted PM files for importing.

But thank goodness Bitdefender came out with SecurePass ;) which was an absolute nightmare and they were called out on it, for making the members the beta testers. That's when I left from helping on their forum and in using Bitdefender, let alone a stunt a member there (mod) pulled on me in group DM thread.

So yes, Bitwarden does seem to have more years and an excellent history under its belt that it is a more easily and readily accepted exported/ imported passwords.

I do not think that I would ever trust a service, which does more than just passwords. I prefer to keep everything separate, for security and privacy reasons. I used to use Google login for services and I paid for that nistake dearly. I use Proton and Bitwarden, but I would never even store 2FA in Bitwarden, never keep all eggs in one basket.

I am 51 y old, with Parkinson disease
Good luck with that, I have an untreated HTN and big heart, supplements keep me alive. Parkinson is supposedly caused by an inflammation, anti-inflammatory supplements might help. 🙏

I myself take 10-20 supplements a day, just grasping at straws. My normal blood pressure is 180/130 and according to doctors, I should have been dead already, but cold showers help me.

I am not sure what is the exact cause, but I have several medical conditions; metastatic thyroid cancer, multiple nerve injuries by surgeries for thyroid cancer, Parkinson disease, dysrhythmia, dyslipidemia.
I have a big box in the kitchen for my medications, including of course some vitamins and minerals.

I purchased a lifetime subscription to Proton Pass as soon as it was released. I was smart at the time, even though I already had another password manager with a lifetime subscription.

I forget to mention that earlier, you can export the Proton Pass vault as a CSV file instead of JSON file and then import it to KeePassXC, this way works better.
