Serious Discussion Quick Play with McAfee

It was probably one of the new Total Protection plans for individuals.
I have Total Protection and my menu is not the same as yours. In Scams Protection, I don't have the Text Scams or Email Scams options. It's just Total Protection. Is there some new version difference, or do I need to update the application somewhere?

I have a question: If I don't use automatic renewal for McAfee Total Protection, what extra features will I not receive?
Cancelling or not using auto renewal changes nothing whatever as to using the product in the licensed times - Of course at the end of your licence period you will lose protection buts that's the case with all subscriptions, me I would just buy another cheap licence at expiry time.

How many devices are includes in your license? The text scams should appear on a multi-device license where you have access to the mobile security.

Looks like for the new plans, there is nothing locked behind auto-renewal.
For the old products, it was the VPN and the 100% virus protection promise that were locked behind auto-renewal. I’ve left them a virtual card for auto renewal.

So, the license I purchased is McAfee Total Security. 3 PCs/one year. For now, I am using it on one device, my desktop PC. Shouldn't I be able to see more than that?
Here's a picture:
My native language is Hungarian. The text marked in red is Scam Protection. Below that, there is only the SMS option. I don't have the others like you do. Is this only valid on mobile phones?

Nice to see more of McAfee in action.
So, ti!.... are hash based (TLSH), Trojan:....are typical signatures/yara-rule based, Real Protect-LS...is local static analysis, RealProtect.Suspect.....is behavior monitoring?

The TI detections are also based on the AV, but if there is a detection already on the cloud, the cloud takes precedence.

The first detection was picked up by few components. If I were to stop the internet connection, another detection with another name would be produced.

Trojan: is the typical AV generic detection and Yara Rule.

Real Protect - LS (local static) is the static analysis.

Real Protect JSL is JavaScript Local (static analysis on scripts).

Real Protect - SuspectPowerShell!F Is a behavioural detection from the Real Protect behavioural blocking, from the PowerShell machine learning model, it detects malicious powershell type F.

When the detection is based on behaviour (malware was already executed) cache (behavioural cache) is gonna be displayed as a very high confidence. The cache stores the actions.

Apparently the mc-fake-alert (which is called Fake Alerts Broker and has been there for a while) has finally been integrated in the main UI.
You've got to appreciate the deceptively simple UI. Being familiar with the likes of ESET and Kaspersky, it's easy to think, "What is this, My First Antivirus™?" Underneath it all is impressive intelligence orchestrating an extensive variety of guards.

There's sophistication in simplicity.

Yeah, other similar projects are ZoneAlarm, Trend Micro to an extent… can’t think of others. I’ve always admired the ability to run and manage plethora of engines (which for business have 300+ parameters to tweak) with no settings.

The multitude of settings is often offered for the vendor’s benefit (blaming users).

I had an interesting phone conversation (online chat support didn't know) as far as who Spectrum, my ISP uses for their free Security Suite for their internet customers
Back in 2011 when they were Charter communications, it was a rebranded version of F-Secure. At one time I installed it on a desktop, and had a version of F-Secure purchased from their website on another PC (I think they were both IS versions). I remember the Charter version was one build behind the paid version, along with some cosmetic changes I didn't like.

What I found out, is that Spectrum is now using McAfee as the "backbone" (as the tech said) for their Security suite. I thought to call as with F-Secure's decline I was wondering if they were still maintaining that revenue stream as far as Spectrum (ISPs) or not. Especially when I saw all the features on Spectrums webpage it didn't add up to it being F-Secure. Granted, it is a "rebranded version" of McAfee, just wondering if the protection would be there compared to the purchased version. I may have to give it a try on my other notebook :)

EDIT: My goodness, someone at phone support did not know what they were talking about. From my Spectrum account I downloaded the installer, and it was a charter stub installer? Then when it unpacked, the set up screen looked familiar, then I go this app UI. I had asked him twice, first he volunteered the information that it was McAfee, then I asked him again, McAfee? and he said yes. The website information included it having a Firewall (yep, probably Windows Firewall?) and Parental Controls, which may be a separate option somewhere on the website?

I'm just glad I followed up and installed it, otherwise this mis information could be confusing to others. I probably should have installed first, just to be sure before I even posted it here. @Trident I can delete this post, as it may be to confusing, just let me know, as you probably saw this :)
