Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay for the repair.

I need FRST reports from Normal mode. Can you Scan from Normal mode and get both reports?

Thank you for the reply TwinHeadedEagle. I noticed you have helped tons of people on this site with similar issues. Very cool, keep up the good work.

As far as my infected machine goes ... I am having a lot of trouble running Windows in Normal Mode because the virus/malware on the machine keeps randomly forcing Windows to shut down. I will give it another attempt as soon as I can and reply back with results. Thanks again.

If you're unable to enter Normal Mode, then it doesn't matter, you can perform FRST fix in Safe Mode.

FRST.gif
Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

icon_exclaim.gif
This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
icon_exclaim.gif

icon_exclaim.gif
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.
icon_exclaim.gif

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Hello TwinHeadedEagle - sorry for the delay in getting back to you and this issue. The holidays + vacation took first priority. I was able to get it to run a scan from Normal Windows Mode and the results are attached. Now that I completed that I am currently in the process of running the fixlist.txt that you sent me on 12/19/2015 and it has been stuck on "Deleting temporary files: C:\Users\home\AppData\Local\Temp" for over 5 minutes. Not sure what I should do. Hopefully it will complete and I will be able to send you the fixlog.txt results. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.

The fix did finally finish after just letting it sit and then the computer restarted on it's own and no dice with the internet. Here is the fixlog.txt that it placed on my desktop. Let me know how to proceed. Thanks again for helping me.

PC will boot to Normal Windows Mode and appears to be stable (no more automatic shut downs) however internet is still a no go.

Hm, there are some unusual errors with your hard drive, so we need to check this out:

cmd_icon.png
Check Disk
  • Press the
    WindowsKey.png
+ R on your keyboard at the same time. Type cmd and click OK.
  • Copy/Enter the command below and press Enter:
  • Code:
    chkdsk C: /r
  • You should get a message to schedule Check Disk at next system restart. Please type Y and press Enter.
  • All you should do now is to restart your PC and let the Check Disk process finish uninterrupted.
Check Disk report:
  • Press the
    WindowsKey.png
+ R on your keyboard at the same time. Type eventvwr and click OK.
  • In the left panel, expand Windows Logs and then click on Application.
  • Now, on the right side, click on Filter Current Log.
  • Under Event Sources, check only Wininit and click OK.
  • Now you'll be presented with one or multiple Wininit logs.
  • Click on an entry corresponding to the date and time of the disk check.
  • On the top main menu, click Action > Copy > Copy Details as Text.
  • Paste the contents into your next reply.

Is there any way of continuing with a fix in order to get the internet working again? I really don't want to replace the HDD on this machine because of it's age.

I doubt it, because some errors are connected with some files that are responsible for internet connection. Errors with these files are probably the cause of malfunctioned hard drive.

Hard drive doesn't cost a fortune, it is probably 10-20$ for the same size as yours.
