App Review Ranking EVERY Antivirus in 300 Seconds (WORST to BEST)

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.

This is similar to how some people stop using a product simply because it is Russian

I pretty much stopped watching youtube AV reviews besides the ones from around our community when guys like MRizos disappeared (he posted a video a number of years ago explaining what happened) but for the most part i've found numerous ones either showing favoritism or as with some of the ones in the OP just being behind the times. Products change from year to year let alone when you scale that up into decades.

Whether we agree with the ranking or not, I think the most valuable part of the video is the reminder that no antivirus can replace good security habits.

Keeping Windows and your browser up to date, avoiding pirated software, being careful with suspicious files, using two-factor authentication, and having reliable backups will probably have a greater impact on everyday security than switching between two antivirus products that already provide a good level of protection.

After that, choosing an antivirus is more about protection, performance, false positives, privacy, and each user's needs. YouTube rankings can be a good starting point, but I think they are best complemented with independent testing. 🔒🌐

This is mostly because the tester's point of view is completely different from the end user's point of view. The tester will choose the program that offers the best protection regardless of other drawbacks, while another user will tell you about the drawbacks they face when using this program. For example, Windows Defender is currently considered sufficient for the home user, yet you will find many people using other products for their own reasons.

This is straightforward not knowing what you're talking about. Leading yourself by online comments and magazines, instead of doing your own research and tests.

To start with, McAfee has proven to be a top-tier solution nowadays.
Also, putting Norton, which is superior to lots of AVs, in the same tier of Comodo AV... really? Avast/AVG in a different tier than Norton, and also on the same tier than Panda? Seriously?

This looks also like a paid video by MalwareBytes lmao.

EDIT: I did my own tierlist, based on my tests.

I tend to agree with you !!

This is gold! I used to change my AV frequently back in the day when I was passionate about it. I was finding the best AV for my specific case, at the cost of having to reinstall Windows twice every year.

I then installed Kaspersky in 2023 and never again changed my main security provider. When it works, it just does. I don't think I reinstalled Windows since then. Maybe once, just for the heck of it.

I did the same thing with ESET back in 1997......well ok I confess back then I used to jump around AV's like a 19 year old sailor on a shoreleave....but I always maintained ESET lic and always went back to ESET, hell I used to use mkVIR I think it used to use Kaspersky engine back in the day. I also used hitman pro *and still have lic* when it was a conglomerate of 8 AV's or something like that...it used to be sooo good before it got acquired by sophos.
