App Review RansomFree by Cybereason

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.

Would be nice if they had changelog (or at least bloody version and date of the installer next to a download button) and a direct contact on their webpage.

ReJoR- A changelog wouldn't be of value as the protection methodology (Honeypots, indeed!) is fatally flawed. Remember that their prime business is Enterprise security and not any products for the Home user. So they really don't care as this product was not released to be perfect protection against ransomware for the Home user, but instead as a way to make their company known before they have a public stock offering.

So far they have had 3 private funding Rounds (round 2 was entirely Lockheed of Area 51 fame), and recently the Series C funding with Softbank giving them 59 million USD (total of all 3 is over 100 million USD). They then shifted Corporate from Tel Aviv to Cambridge, Massachusetts in anticipation of the IPO (Initial Public Offering). What they wanted to do with this product was to gain some PR for Cybereason in the investment press and they succeeded:

This Free App Can Protect You From Ransomware

They know Damn well that RansomFree does not come anywhere close to detecting 99% of all ransomware and they don't really care. The product will however drive up the initial price of the Stock offering- the true purpose of this release.
