New Update Re-visit to AVG in 2025

AVG continues, to be in my opinion the best of the products out of all GEN Digital products. The application seems to be free of scareware Unlike Norton and Avast. AVG secure VPN also works for YouTube and is not blocked like Norton's VPN is. AVG in my opinion still seems to be a hidden gem that not many people talk about lately and is fairly cheap as you can get an Ultimate license for 2 years just under $20. Not bad for a product that offers an unlimited VPN and even a killswitch. AVG tuneup is not bad either and has not damaged my system in anyway using the product.

"You are fully protected" = "It Works Until It Doesn't. After that, do not contact AVG support. We can't help you. Nobody can. We're going to tell you to clean install Windows."

And that is why i posted to be fair all av's will fail. Brain AV will always win over any security product. Any security program is like a condom some times those "accidents happen". 😉😉

If common sense were a standard that mattered in global society, then you could make billions teaching a course called "Brain."

We do not live in that world.

Obviously.

I have had problems with Kaspersky, Norton, f-secure and Bitdefender, but these are still among the best I have tried, everyone can encounter problems, even your machine can fail. As long as you use a computer, it is certain that sooner or later you will encounter errors that need to be fixed.;)

I'm not sure I would use a VPN from the AVAST empire knowing their history & having a look at their privacy policy RE: the VPN if fact I would rather use no VPN at all if AVG was the only choice.

Norton bought Avast so technically they run differently, i don't do highly illegal activities so i don't really need to cover my tracks from government but hackers. I feel like Norton wouldn't allow avast staff (former to tarnish it's reputation) I feel like the Norton buy out was a way for Avast to fully rescue itself. AVG is the only product from Gen digital i use due it's no ADS and clear cut GUI.

I can see you're frustrated, likely due to a past issue; however, implying AVG is ineffective perhaps because of your experience is definitely unwarranted. No antivirus is perfect – I've had threats slip past top-rated programs like Bitdefender, Vipre, AVG, Kaspersky, eScan, and McAfee.

Yet, I still trust them. AVG consistently scores well in independent tests and usually achieves top scores, suggesting there's more to your experience than just the software's failure.
