I wanted to thank @nickstar1 for his generosity and helping other MT out with his private " mini giveway "
meanwhile, I just uninstalled & canceled Norton subscription for one of my VM. Doubt I will use any Gen digital av in foreseeable future. just me.Norton bought Avast so technically they run differently, i don't do highly illegal activities so i don't really need to cover my tracks from government but hackers. I feel like Norton wouldn't allow avast staff (former to tarnish it's reputation) I feel like the Norton buy out was a way for Avast to fully rescue itself. AVG is the only product from Gen digital i use due it's no ADS and clear cut GUI.
Norton is horrible you will have a better experience with avg.meanwhile, I just uninstalled & canceled Norton subscription for one of my VM. Doubt I will use any Gen digital av in foreseeable future. just me.![]()
Norton is now completely bloatware. Not to mention the interface and annoying popups that are completely like fake antiviruses. I used AVG for 8 years , I think it was just before bought from Avast, I'm thinking of trying it when my Eset license ends.Norton is horrible you will have a better experience with avg.

It has less advertisements and is less annoying in the way it’s presented. Is AVG any different from Avast nowadays? Seems to me it is just a skin, the product is exactly the same.
Ps: I like Avast/AVG, I am using it right now on my gaming notebook.

That is what I said. Nothing more. Nothing less.No antivirus is perfect
Well, that's not exactly what you said initially. You specifically wrote about AVGThat is what I said. Nothing more. Nothing less.
"Any security software works - - until it doesn't."
you are absolutely right about thatSecurity is not software. It is a process.
Why would you have trust in anything that based on your own empirical evidence you know doesn't work? I don't trust AV's, they are a help but that as far as it goes, I think.I can see you're frustrated, likely due to a past issue; however, implying AVG is ineffective perhaps because of your experience is definitely unwarranted. No antivirus is perfect – I've had threats slip past top-rated programs like Bitdefender, Vipre, AVG, Kaspersky, eScan, and McAfee.
Yet, I still trust them. AVG consistently scores well in independent tests and usually achieves top scores, suggesting there's more to your experience than just the software's failure.
