New Update Re-visit to AVG in 2025

After reading this thread I ran a AVG trial, I noticed that they were using a DNS (Avast) as was the case in the past, I disabled this & had a permeant red icon on the main screen informing me of the dangers of this, this was a shame as in the past it could be (as I think it should) disabled without issue. I didn't continue the trial for much longer, pity as its a fine product.

hellou

what kind of performance i has, i am talking about system usage in terms of ram and cpu
currently using Panda free so maybe getting avg seems better choice if performance is ok
Honestly it's very snappy on my PC browsing speeds are good to. They have recently made some really good improvements to the VPN speed it's very reliable now.

AVG no longer displays any scareware ad's on the smart scan anymore they really have cleared up the app. AVG continues to be the best Gen digital option. Also for some reason AVG's VPN is the only gen digital product that works with youtube so hats off to the avg team!

As we approach 2026, AVG remains a viable antivirus solution. While the user interface has seen minimal changes, the underlying detection engine is actively maintained and frequently updated. Phishing and scam protection has improved significantly, including enhanced real-time detection alerts. In this case, AVG successfully identified phishing URLs that were less than two hours old and delivered directly to my personal email inbox, rather than originating from a known testing or telemetry-based detection source. This demonstrates effective real-world, in-the-wild threat detection.

yes, very impressed avg/Avast nabbed the one with no detection.
I like to check potential malicious links on VT from time to time; as VT not including Norton/Avast engine for URL, I check it additionally using Norton safe web.
My personal observation, Norton-Avast detection of malicious links exceeds the contenders.
