Rod McCarthy Config

You could literally go with APPGUARD and only appguard and be very safe if you just use your brain before clicking stuff. Also, adguard, taskcatcher, and sticky password aren't real-time malware prots, so you may want to remove them from that section. One more thing and I'll let everyone else pitch in, have you considered installing Windows 10? If not, why? Thanks for sharing! ;)

At this time programs such as Task Catcher are no longer available for purchase and are no longer supported.

Current customers may download the most recent version of programs but should be sure to save any activation code which were purchased in the past.

Thank you

I want to say that this is the first thing you start with. Uninstall this.

Now that you've uninstalled that, you can optionally uninstall WinPatrol and Keyscrambler. As @Noxx has mentioned, AppGuard is a brick wall without any companions needed.

Remove everything but AppGuard and AdGuard. Install Zemana as an on demand scanner. I would reccomend using an AV like Avast but I just AppGuard COULD work. I also reccomend uograding to Windows 10

Also please change your thread title to (username)'s security config as per the rules.

Thanks for writing... Win 10, I just like Win 7... I didn't see a place for the others you listed above, and thought it best to give you as much info as possible...

Here's what I do, create a "Miscellaneous" section or something in your actual post, and list the programs there. And yeah, I get the Win 7 nostalgia, but Win10 actually feels a lot like 7 in comparison to 8, it's just more secure. Maybe consider it down the road. :)

Task Catcher,
Winpatrol,
AdGuard,
AppGuard,
Keyscrambler Premium,
Sticky Password,
MS Security Essentials (Gets Turned Off if I install Anti-Virus or Security Suite).

Remove those as their not part of Real-time protection, you may want to change MSE with other well known AV. WinPatrol and Keyscrambler this'll be @ own personal preference. If you don't install or try other software's basically a static system, your completely secured with AppGuard.

So Appguard, Adguard and nothing else, not even a light cloud based anti-virus?

Concerning Zemana I tried it, it caused some problems and I chose to go with MBAM

Thanks Guys.

If this is for a gaming computer, you really don't need an AV. If you insist on having something running in real-time apart from APPGUARD, consider a light malware prot like Zemana AntiMalware or Crystal Security. But in all honesty, APPGUARD will prevent most infections, but anyone here will recommend you at least having a few on-demand scanners just in case.

Thanks forgive the post mistakes, I'm still kinda new to posting, at least a post like the above. I clicked on edit, that didn't seem to work. If mods want to change it feel free.

You can edit your configuration at anytime. Just click "thread tools" at the top right of your post and click "edit thread fields". However, if you want to add a "miscellaneous" section to put other programs, click edit in the bottom right of your post and write it in manually.

Made some edits hope that helps. Thanks for Advice.

whether you actually need a traditional AV in addition to Appguard depends on your level of paranoia, and also on how you go about installing new programs. When you install new programs, Appguard won't be protecting you, but a traditional AV will protect. So if you don't totally trust what you are installing, i.e., you take risks sometimes, so Avast or Webroot will be a good, very light AV for you. If you go for Avast, choose custom install, and ditch the bloatware.
You could also consider installing an anti-exploit, such as Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit, or HitmanPro.Alert (it is stronger than MBAE, but more prone to conflicts). You will not feel the impact of these programs. They run super light.

Not a bad set up. I myself am a gamer so I understand wanting a light config.
Thanks for sharing.

To my taste I would add a third party firewall like W10FC free of sphinx-soft.com to control outbound connections. And I would change MS Security Essentials to Avira or Avast free.

I would recommend a upgrade to windows 10. Windows defender is better integrated into the OS and since you're a gamer, Win10 offers you DirectX 12 and better power saving features.
Your config is light and good to go.

I like the idea that you have Appguard, also you can absolutely hardened more the built in features protection of Windows 7 by checking some resources online.

EMET is another good source of tool protection against mitigation attacks next to MBAE.

Thanks guys for the nice and informative responses... Now as to your suggestion about Avast, can you tell me which items do you tic "off" when you do a custom install of avast... Thanks

Get windows 10( as windows 7 loses support at 2020), and also get https everywhere if you haven't already for the browser extension.

I would consider some of the suggestions already made and definitely consider making the move to Windows 10 before the end of July.
Thanks for sharing your config :)
