Avira has a strong past, it became popular because its Free version usually matched the much bigger AVs paid for version sometimes even beating them.
After Norton bought them last year its good that has not changed.

I wasn't aware they have a Free security suite unless that is what they are calling the free version now .

So its a VPN and Password Manager. Its free so can't complain.
All our free features, including:
  • Antivirus
  • VPN (500 MB/month)
  • Password Manager
  • Update scanner

Too bad they don't put some AV like Eset, Bitdefender etc :/
Perhaps because of agreements or opted-out. There are two more tests you can check: Enterprise Endpoint Protection (2021 Q3) and Small Business Endpoint Protection (2021 Q3). ESET participated in both while Bitdefender only in the Small Business test.
Total Accuracy Ratings in all three tests (including Home) always have this ranking order: Microsoft, Kaspersky, ESET (not participated Home test), McAfee, and Sophos.
I think it's quite comparable if these two vendors participated in the SE Labs's Home test, Bitdefender should get #1 and ESET one rank lower than Kaspersky.
Also, comparing these tests with AV-Comparatives, Bitdefender is the only one who keeps getting the best award (Advanced+) to date (2021 tests) while ESET in two latest 2021 tests got one lower award than Kaspersky too (but McAfee is outperforming Kaspersky one award higher in one test).
