How to manually check for updates :

  • Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button
  • In the search box, type Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.
  • Click "Check for updates"
  • Install all the "Important" updates

Here are some quick recommendations before installing Windows 7 SP1

I held back by one day or so on downloading/installing SP1 due to the problems some people were having with CIS 5.3, but have now since gone ahead and done it. Was a painless update which took about 30 minutes for the 64 Bit edition of Windows 7. :)

SP1 adds almost nothing for most of us: http://windowssecrets.com/2011/02/24/01-What-you-need-to-know-about-Windows-7-SP1

Oh well...I wouldn't know what MS should add anyway. Windows 7 just works. :p

I updated yesterday and haven't seen any problems... yet.
