Stardock today announced the release of Start11 Release Candidate 2 (RC2), which adds a full-screen option and numerous fixes.

“With Release Candidate 2, the full-screen menu feature makes it easier to use Windows 10 or 11 on a tablet,” a Stardock forum post explains. “When paired with the new option to adjust icon sizes for Windows 10 and 11 style menus, Start11 significantly improves the tablet experience.”

New features include a full-screen menu option for Windows 10/11 menu styles, option to hide the “recently installed” (Windows 10/11 style) and the “recent document” (Windows 11 style) lists, enhanced support for wider tile groups in the Windows 10 style menu, the ability to change the background color of individual Windows 10 menu items, options to adjust icon sizing for Windows 10/11 style menus, and 240 Hz support for animations.

There are also many, many fixes that should clear up some of the instabilities in RC1.

You can learn more—and make the $4.99 purchase—at the Stardock website.

Start11 adds folder support to its customizable Windows 11 Start menu

What you need to know
  • Start11 just received an update that adds folder support and a handful of other new features.
  • The app now supports importing your Start menu layout from Windows 10.
  • Locking a layout into place is also an option with the latest version of Start11.
Windows 11 includes a new Start menu that's been met with mixed reviews. Stardock's Start11 aims to deliver an improved Start experience for both Windows 11 and Windows 10. In addition to allowing people to choose a legacy look, Start11 provides more customization options than the default Start menu and has some unique features. Now, the app has been updated to version 1.1, which includes support for folders and a list of other new options.

Folder support is the main draw of this update. Users can now drag one icon over another while holding the Shift key to create a folder. The app's integration with Fences is also a nice touch.

"One of our priorities in v1.1 was bringing folder functionality to the Windows 11 style menu and enhancing integration with our most popular application, Fences," said VP and General Manager of Stardock Software Brad Sams.

Start11 v1.2 beta brings back Taskbar ungrouping and more in Windows 11

Stardock released v1.2 beta of Start11 today. Start11 is a program that allows users to customize the Windows Start menu and taskbar for Windows 10 and 11 and can make the Start menu appear as it did in previous versions of Windows, enhancing the experience with new features and functionality.

Start11 v1.2 beta focuses specifically on enhancing the Windows 11 experience by re-building the taskbar from the ground up to add new functionality. With this release, users will be able to ungroup items on their taskbar with their windows centered or left-aligned.

“The new taskbar features are designed to deliver functionality from previous versions of Windows but make them look and feel native to Windows 11,” said Brad Sams, VP and General Manager of Stardock Software. “With our new taskbar experience, we have created a foundation for bringing additional functionality to Windows 11 to further our mission to make Windows more personal and productive.”
Changelog:
  • All new taskbar experience that allows you to ungroup windows on the taskbar in Windows 11
  • New option to left-align the Start button but keep application icons centered while grouped or ungrouped.
  • Ability to drag a file to an open app on the taskbar and have it open the file.
  • Enhanced multi-monitor taskbar support to independently define window grouping on secondary monitors.
  • Ability to resize the taskbar to increase its height – great for users with lots of app running
To download the beta, users can login to their Stardock account, where the beta is available in the software section.

Stardock Start11 is a Windows 11 customization tool designed to bring back the classic Start menu and enhance users' desktop experience. It offers a range of features and options that allow users to personalize their Start menu and taskbar to suit their preferences.

Make Your Desktop Yours
Take complete control of your desktop with Start11. With Windows 11, Microsoft chose form over functionality and removed many different features that were available in Windows 10. With Start11, you can customize the experience to fit your personality.

Features You Expect
Windows 11 removed many features that were present in Windows 10, Start11 brings them back. From the basics like returning the right-click menu on the taskbar to ungrouping of windows on the taskbar. You can also choose to have your icons centered on the taskbar with your Start menu left aligned.

One Desktop to Rule Them All
When working with multiple devices across various versions of Windows, Start11 can help you create a common desktop experience. Make Windows 10 look like Windows 11, or 11 look like Windows 10. Or how about making both Windows 10 and 11 look like Windows 7? The choice is yours.

Remove Unwanted Content
Windows 11 brings with it a new design language but also more advertisements and content that you can’t remove. Take back complete control with Start11 and remove unwanted outside content and sections of the Start menu that you don’t want to see.

Start11 1.44 changelog:
  • Tweaked detection of touch mode taskbar enabled devices (should fix misaligned systray issues)
  • Tweaked color of flashing taskbar button in dark more to be more visible
  • Version is 1.44 (1.4.4.0 on file version)

Is it still not possible to have the taskbar both hidden and at the top with Start11?

Last i tried it there where info in the program saying that W11 do not allow that so therefore it can not be done. Well, StartAllBack can do it so it IS possible, it is just Stardock who does not know how to do it.
